In most cases, you are. Why? Because as human beings we are curious by nature and you don’t have to do anything but watch. It’s easy for you and you can always hit the stop button if you find it doesn’t interest you. Thus, the reason video marketing in hitting the online marketing world with a bang!
You may be on board with putting yourself and your business out there through video but feel you don’t know the first place to start. That’s okay! I am going to walk you through a quick step by step on how to create and release your first video!
Have A Plan
Just like any other form of marketing, you first need to do a little preparation and planning. Create some bullet points of what you want to accomplish with your first message. Keep in mind that each video should be short and to the point in order to keep your viewer’s attention. A good goal is to aim for anywhere between 60 and 90 seconds. Decide what you want that first main message to be and create a simple script to help guide you. Perhaps you just want to introduce yourself and your company in your first video. This is a great way to help people put your face to your name and business, become familiar and then more comfortable with you.
Next, before shooting your video, take a look at your surroundings. The less distractions that take the viewer away from you and your message the better! I have more success when I remove clutter, ensure the background is fitting and comfortable, try to incorporate something that helps establish the company’s brand and shoot the video in a quiet location where there isn’t a lot of background sound.
Practice, Shoot, Submit!
Once you have developed a concept for your first message and have created a good place to shoot the video, you are ready to go! For recording, you can easily use your smart phone camera and either a small tripod or a friend with a steady hand. Go ahead and give it a shot! It may take a little practice to get it to where you want it but also be careful not to over analyze yourself! Anyone who has ever started using video for their business or their own personal message has only improved over time. You just have to submit that video and start working on the next. Each time you will see more and more improvement!
After you have recorded your video, you are ready to release it into the social media wild! If you enjoy working with technology and software, then you can find many different software options out there to edit your video and adjust or add any text or imagery. Many of them are free or include a free trial. If you like the raw cut of your video, which is more commonly used, you can simply choose your media outlet and upload it there. YouTube, Facebook and LinkedIn are great places to start when it comes to submitting your video. If this is your first time creating video then just pick one outlet for now. You can always expand later. You can tag with key words and information, give and receive comments and even track your views!
Now you have everything you need to get started on creating your first video. You can use this great, new platform as a way to break through the clutter and help the consumer get to know you and become more comfortable! One final tip is that once you begin any type of new marketing you want to be consistent. So, keep submitting those videos and you will be able to watch your viewership…and your business grow!
